  • A South African team first played international football in 1924, losing 2-1 to Ireland. As the FASA they were affilitated to FIFA in 1958 but were suspended in 1961 due to their discriminatory selection policy. After the apartheid government was replaced they were readmitted in 1991 playing it's first international game in nearly thirty years beating Cameroon 1-0.
    England have played South Africa twice and won 2-1 on both occasions.
