  • John 'Jackie' Sewell turned professional in October 1944 whilst with Notts County. Sheffield Wednesday paid a then record transfer fee of £34,500 for his services in March 1951. At Wednesday he gained all of his England caps before transferring to Aston Villa in December 1995 and then to Hull in October 1959. He scored 227 goals in 510 League games. He was appointed player/coach of Lusaka City in Zambia in September 1961 and also national coach of Zambia until 1973 and played for the Zambian national team.
