Notes:
Alexander Morten holds a fair few England records mostly down to his age, even though we cannot be entirely certain of his date of birth. There is a possibility he could have been born in 1832 although the 1831 date is more probable. Either way he was over 40 years of age when he won his first cap in 1873. He is the second oldest player to represent England and the oldest debutant. He has also the honour of being born at an earlier date than any other international footballer. As he was captain in his only match he is also the oldest debutant captain and the oldest debutant goalkeeper. A stockbroker by trade. He died in February 1900.
