John Purvis Hawtrey

- He was actually born at Eton College where his father was master of the lower school. He is the elder brother of actor Sir Charles Hawtrey. He came late to the world of football having played rugby at school but won the FA Cup in 1879 before his two caps came along where he sadly, shipped seven goals. In normal life he was a journalist, actor and producer and wrote plays under the pseudonym John Trent-Hay.
