Tommy Meehan (1896? - 18th August 1924) was an international footballer who represented England 1 time scoring 0 goals. His only cap was against Ireland on 20th October 1923 at the age of 27. Notes:
Born in Manchester sometime during the summer of 1896, Tommy first started playing for Harpurhey Boys Club at 14 and then Newtown FC at 16, Walkden Central at 19 before moving to Rochdale in January 1917 aged 21. There he was spotted by Manchester United and was bought for £1,500 in June 2017 - although he had to wait for the end of the First World War before making his debut. During that time he was loaned to Atherton and back to Rochdale. In December 1920 Chelsea paid £3,300 to bring him to the capital where he stayed until his untimely death from sleeping sickness (encephalitis lethargica) at the age of 28.
