Segar Bastard (25th January 1854 - 20th March 1921) was an international footballer who represented England 1 time scoring 0 goals. His only cap was against Scotland on 13th March 1880 at the age of 26. Bastard, born on 25th January 1854, in Bow, London, has a FA Legacy Number of 73 and played as a Outside Right for his country.
Notes:
Played for Upton Park, Corinthians, Leyton & Essex FA. He served on the FA Committee from 1877 to 1882 and refereed the 1878 FA cup final, two internationals against Wales (1879 & 1881) and was umpire for the Welsh game in 1880 (It is not recorded if the crowd chanted his name!) A successful solicitor's occupation allowed him to indulge in horseracing during later life. In fact he died of a heart attack at Epsom Station after a day at the races. Many publications list his name as Segal but his name was recorded in official documents (marriage & death certificates) as Segar.
