George Tait (1859? - 20th November 1882) was an international footballer who represented England 1 time scoring 0 goals. His only cap was against Wales on 26th February 1881 at the age of 21. George Tait's exact date of birth is still unknown but it is likely to have been in the fourth quarter of 1859. His career started as a youngster to first team at Birmingham Excelsior. Douglas Lamming, in his book, suggest that Tait only got his England cap "was inline with the then policy of spreading honours around in matches other than those against Scotland". He died suddenly "from a severe attack of typhoid fever" at the young age of 23.
