Herbert Whitfield (25th November 1858 - 6th May 1909) was an international footballer who represented England 1 time scoring 1 goal. His only cap was against Wales on 18th January 1879 at the age of 20. Whitfield, born on 25th November 1858, in Lewes, Sussex, has a FA Legacy Number of 61 and played as a Forward for his country.

Whitfield was educated at Eton College before attending Trinity College, Cambridge winning cricket blues (1878-1881) and football blues (1879-1881). He also participated in athletics and real tennis. During his university years he turned out for Old Etonians whom he helped win the FA Cup in 1879 and runners-up in 1881. He played 75 first-class cricket matches for Cambridge University and then Sussex from 1878, becoming captain in 1882. Professionally he was a banker who worked for Barclays Bank.
