William Carr (14th November 1848 - 22nd February 1924) was an international footballer who represented England 1 time scoring 0 goals. His only cap was against Scotland on 6th March 1875 at the age of 26. Carr, born on 14th November 1848, in Sheffield, has a FA Legacy Number of 28 and played as a Goalkeeper for his country.
Notes:
Alcock's 1874 Annual attests that Carr 'has again and again vindicated his right to the first place among custodians of the goal.' He played for many Sheffield clubs including Wednesday, Walkley and Owlerton, of the latter he was secretary when called up. He arrived late for his only international appearance which has led to speculation that that was the reason for not being selected again.
