Career Summary:: Tom Finney (5th April 1922 - 14th February 2014) was an international footballer who represented England 76 times scoring 30 goals. His first cap was against Ireland on 28th September 1946 at 24 years old, and his last was vs USSR on 22nd October 1958 aged 36. Finney, born on 5th April 1922, in Preston, Lancashire, has a FA Legacy Number of 661 and played as a Outside Right, Outside Left and Centre Forward for his country.

Notes:: Born and bred in Preston, just a stone throw from the Preston North End ground Deepdale, Sir Tom made a name for himself during the Second World War through war-time friendly matches but had to wait until the end of hostilities for his debut with his home town side in August 1946. An England call up was only natural a month later. Finney spent 14 years at Preston notching up 433 appearances and 187 goals. He was knighted in 1998 and was Footballer of the Year 1954 & 1957 but never won a major club honour. His solitary FA Cup Final appearance was in 1954 where Preston lost 2-3 to West Bromich Albion.
Equally adept on the left or right-wing, and occasionally as a centre forward.
